Family the moment you step in the door
A whole lot of love and laughter is found all around
Light and Salt
Light to shine in the darkness
Salt to taste and see
Food for the stomach but also for the soul
A place where boys learn to become men of God
A place where mercy is put into action through discipling and feeding women, the elderly, and those with special needs.
Light and Salt
A place that forever marked my heart
Light and Salt Ministries.
Found in the small town of Ciudad Dario in northern Nicaragua.
A boys Reformation School and Mercy In Action Program.
A vision to “Provoke a reform in Nicaragua through christian education and poverty relief. A Mission to “Disciple, train and empower Nicaraguans to break their cycles of mental, spiritual, and physical poverty.” And their Values are “Relationial, Mercy-based, Bible-based, Spirit-led, Hands-on, Excellence.”
To reform means to change something; the poverty mindset is being changed here.
The boys are being discipled, equipped, and empowered. Bible studies and prayer times, learning how to be responsible for their own things and take care of the things around them, to show respect and honor. English class, and there is sure to be activities like Chess, Taekwondo, and a whole lot of soccer.
Bible study and sewing class for single moms and widows, learning how to make clothes to in turn be able to provide for their family.
Bible study and food for the elderly and those with special needs.
The staff here loves everyone so well.
This place has truly left a mark on my heart.
Ministry days have been full and busy. Prayer and devotional time with the team in the morning, Doing various projects around the ministry site and our hosts home; such as landscaping and painting, and helping in the classroom with the boys in the morning and afternoon. Helping teach English, lead activities, and hang with them at breakfast, lunch and dinner. One day we went with the boys on a Missions trip for a day into a small village doing house to house evangelism, handing out clothes, and having an outreach event. It was so cool getting watch them put into action what their amazing teachers have been pouring into them.
My favorite memories here have been being in the classroom with the boys, and the house visits we did in the village. I have loved getting to hang out with the boys, them practicing their English with me while I practice my Spanish with them, making handshakes, cracking jokes, and of course playing soccer!
This month personally the Lord has been growing me in having patience for myself, I always seem to have good patience for others but never for myself(might just be that recovering perfectionist showing up a bit), I keep finding myself comparing how the Lord is revealing so much to my teammates and not me. Patience for myself to just be and know that the lord will reveal and show me things in His time.

Hey Sweet Steph! I love this update. I’m so glad you have gotten to be a part of this beautiful ministry. It sounds like they are doing amazing things in the community….so powerful! And don’t be so hard on yourself. The Lord has many things He wants to tell you. Just learn to sit with Him and get to know Him more and more. No more perfectionism, just excellence, and that’s who you are already because Jesus lives in you….He is excellent and so are you! Love you Steph! Praying for you always!
