Enough: Adequate for the want or need; sufficient for the need or purpose or to satisfy desire. Fully, or quite. Sufficiency.
A word that seems to hold so much weight yet I feel like we so easily throw around. “I’ll never be enough for them” “You are enough” “Enough is enough” “That’s enough”.
A key necklace with the word’Enough’ written on it was given to me at the start back in January. My first thoughts were ‘ Oh great Lord I thought we already worked on this in my life’ How little did I know then what a different meaning that word would have on my life through out this year.
Don’t get me wrong, there has been times that I’ve let the enemy get a foothold and I wondered if I’d ever be enough for the people around me, I wondered if I was equipped enough for the ministry.
In coversation with a friend and squad mate a few months back she asked me the question “If all else fails, if you feel like you have no friends, if you lose everything, and feel like you have no one, Is Jesus still really enough for you?“ I jumped to answer “Yes!” But then I had to check myself. If Jesus is enough than why am I truly not living like He is? Yes it hurts when life isn’t going the way we think it should and we feel alone but when we begin to put friendships, and family, and whatever else before the Lord we begin to lose sight. Nothing in this world will ever truly satisfy. No friend, no relationship, no house , no job. Jesus is really truly the only one that will truly satisfy.
In reality no we won’t ever be enough for those around us on our own and that’s okay. It is Christ in us that makes us enough, it’s through Him that we are enough.
All this to say that word Enough on the necklace given to me back in January wasn’t about me being enough it meant JESUS IS ENOUGH.
He’s enough when I’ve felt overlooked and undervalued.
He’s enough when people let me down
He’s enough when I’ve felt alone
He’s enough in the middle of the struggle
He is sufficient and adequate for our wants needs and desires.
So friend let me leave you with the same question my friend asked me. “If all else fails, if you feel like you have no friends, if you lose everything, and feel like you have no one, Is Jesus still really enough for you?“
Prayer Requests:
•For safe travels as we transition to our next country in just a couple days.
•Continued prayers for the Lords direction and provision as we begin to transition back to the states in just a couple months. For jobs, and housing, ministry opportunities, all things big and small.
Wow Steph! HE IS ENOUGH! This is a really beautiful word you’ve written. I think that many of us know this in our “head”, but you really understand this in your “heart”. This revelation can sustain you in everything you do. SO POWERFUL. We love you Steph! Praying for all those requests.
So glad King Jesus is abundantly more than we could ask or imagine. Love you, Steph!
Amen to the other two posts??
